A Milestone Year: Fire & Water Music Festival (July 24–26, 2026)
One of the crown jewels of summer along the river is celebrating a major milestone this year. The Fire & Water Music Festival marks its 20th anniversary, bringing together music lovers, storytellers, and friends in the beautiful riverside community of Lac du Bonnet.
From its roots in the original Pinawa Dam Jam in 1997 to its current home along the beautiful banks of the Winnipeg River, the former site of the Lakers’ Water Ski Club, the festival has grown into a beloved tradition powered by an incredible community of volunteers.The artist line up for every festival is unique and fabulous, and a few of the artists they will welcome this year are Dreams and Rumours (Fleetwood Mac tribute band), multi-award-winning singer songwriter Cara Luft, contemporary folk artist Domnique Adams, singer songwriter Jacob Brodovsky, and the tremendous harmonies and always entertaining performances of the Fu Fu Chi Chi Choir!

To help look back on the fabulous 20 years of Fire & Water Festivals, the festival organizers are inviting people to share their favourite Festival memories! You can send them your photos, stories, favourite musician memories, etc. so that they can showcase these memories. You can email your memories to info@firenwater.caby April 30.
In a thoughtful shift, the festival moves to July this year, opening the door for more people to attend and participate. Whether you come for the music, the stories, or simply the atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to make new summer memories—and reflect on two decades of unforgettable ones.

Celebrating a Century: Pine Falls 100-Year Anniversary
History takes centre stage this summer as Pine Falls celebrates 100 years. The festivities kick off on May 16 with a fundraising social at the Great Falls Community Centre. This event is more than just a celebration—it’s a chance to connect with the stories, people, and legacy that have shaped the community over the past century.

A Showcase of Creativity: Eastman Judged Art Exhibition (July 13, 2026)
Art and community come together at the Eastman Judged Art Exhibition (EJAE), a biannual event that highlights the incredible creative talent of the North Eastman Region. This exhibition offers artists a valuable professional development opportunity while giving the public a chance to connect with the local arts scene.
Participating artists have their work evaluated by professional judges and receive constructive feedback, helping them grow their practice and build their artistic careers.
The selected artwork will be exhibited on Saturday, July 13, 2026, at the beautiful Great Falls Community Hall. The exhibition is open to the public and promises an inspiring experience for art lovers of all ages.
This year, EJAE is expanding with exciting additions, including corporate networking opportunities, a display of work from the Riverside Quilters, and a free family art-making session—making it a true celebration of creativity and community.
EJAE 2026 is one of the Winnipeg River Art Council’s major initiatives and showcases the dedication, talent, and passion of artists and supporters throughout the region.
